Our Vision
The Centre aims to provide advice and guidance for policy makers and practitioners on the role of building and construction to anticipate and respond to unexpected events that damage or destroy the built environment, and reflect construction’s ongoing responsibility toward the built environment’s users.
The Centre achieves this by:
- Undertaking real world, rigorous research and producing research outputs which are timely and appropriate
- Supporting policy makers and government stakeholders to embed the implications of our research findings in their strategies and policies
- Providing education (both teaching and research) and training opportunities including CPD
- Providing advice and guidance to a range of stakeholders
- Being active in networks which promote disaster management and being a vehicle for promoting and communicating teaching, research and other activities
- Providing a forum for discussion and debate on key disaster management related challenges
- Setting our work within the global context by both drawing upon and sharing expertise and innovation internationally
